Relationships, Sex and Health Education at Dove Bank Primary School
At Dove Bank Primary School, our school ethos of ‘Putting Children First’ is a core driver for what and how we teach the children about Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE). Through this area of the curriculum, we aim to ensure that all children:
– develop good communication skills
– develop confidence in themselves
– develop a positive body image
– develop strong personal safety skills
Most elements of the RSHE curriculum are statutory except for Sex Education which is part of the Relationships and Sex Education curriculum (RSE). Whilst we are not required to provide any level of sex education to primary ages children, we believe that in not offering this we are not enabling children to fully develop their strong personal safety skills. By providing the full RSHE curriculum to all of the children at Dove Bank Primary School, we give every child the best chance of keeping themselves safe.
