Who are Ofsted?

The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) inspects schools to provide an independent assessment of the quality and standards of education in schools and check whether pupils are achieving as much as they can.

Inspectors will make judgements on the following:

  • Overall effectiveness
  • The 4 key judgements:

~ the quality of education
~ behaviour and attitudes
~ personal development
~ leadership and management

  • Where relevant, judgements are made on the quality of provision in:

~ early years education
~ the sixth form

Inspectors use the following 4-point scale to make all judgements:

Grade 1: Outstanding

Grade 2: Good

Grade 3: Requires Improvement

Grade 4: Inadequate

Dove Bank Primary School was last inspected in March 2025 and was judged as maintaining the standards of previous inspections.

Summary of Key Findings:

This school is a beacon of friendship at the heart of its diverse community. Everyone is welcome. Parents and carers value the warmth and support that the school provides for their children.

Pupils benefit from the school’s ambitious aims for success and typically achieve well.
Pupils are motivated to learn.

Pupils’ personal development is a high priority. Pupils flourish from a range of leadership roles to learn about responsibility. For instance, pupils contribute effectively to the school’s unifying ethos, through well-being ambassadors and roles that promote diversity and
equality. Pupils are proud of their valuable input to school life.
