Oak News – November 2021

What a busy half term we have had in Oak Class.

We have welcomed our new children and families to our class and we are so proud of how the Reception children have settled in. The Year 1 children have been superb at modelling how to use our environment, making sure everyone has a friend and being so kind and caring.

We have spent this term focusing on special things. We have talked about special people, special toys, special places that we have. The children have demonstrated a wonderful understanding of difference and that, whilst we each have something special, it doesn’t have to be the same thing. We have learnt about our senses and the body parts associated with each sense. We have looked at when we were babies and noticed the things that have changed between then and now.

The children have loved the start of our Forest Friday sessions! We have learnt to use potato peelers to make wish sticks, kitchen knives to safely chop fruit, and made careful observations of our faces to design self-portraits!
